KNOW YOUR PROVIDER

Take control of your medical care and educate yourself about your rights!  If something doesn’t seem right about the medical care that you receive, ask questions!  Educate yourself on your medical conditions and those of your family, especially in regards to the latest treatment for those conditions. 

Ask to see your medical provider’s credentials.  If they refuse to show them to you, they are more than likely not qualified to be practicing medicine.   Take the time to check out the qualifications of the medical providers.  You can do this by entering their name in the National Provider Identifier (NPI) Database.  

Just type in the first and last name of the provider and click on the NPI look-up button.
